Learn More About Us

The Amazon Network for Integrated Fire Management (RAMIF) is a strategic initiative of ACTO (Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization), created to strengthen integrated fire management in the Amazon. It brings together advanced technology, scientific knowledge, and ancestral wisdom to prevent, monitor, and combat forest fires, thereby protecting the most vital biome on the planet.

Our Mission

We work in coordination with the 8 Amazonian countries, providing tools and capacity-building to reduce the impacts of fires. Our approach combines satellite data, early warning systems, and regional cooperation, promoting sustainable practices that balance human needs with biodiversity conservation.

Cooperation Partners

Cooperation partners support and facilitate the strengthening of regional cooperation and the implementation of joint initiatives in the Amazon. Through strategic partnerships with international, national, and regional institutions, they help advance sustainability, integrated fire management, and the recognition and valuing of Amazonian knowledge.

The CoRAmazonia project of the German Cooperation is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and co-financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (COSUDE). In partnership with ACTO and its Member Countries, the initiative promotes the protection of forests and biodiversity, the sustainable management of natural resources, and the strengthening of Integrated Fire Management through the consolidation of RAMIF and the promotion of capacities, good practices, and innovation across the region.

The Amazonía+ programme is funded by the European Union and implemented by a consortium of European cooperation agencies, including AICS, FIIAPP, and Expertise France. The initiative supports countries in the Amazon region in adapting to climate change, reducing deforestation, and protecting biodiversity. Among its actions, it supports ACTO in strengthening the RAMIF, while promoting sustainable forest management, innovation, and the active participation of local and Indigenous communities in the region’s environmental governance.

New Financial Cooperation Agreement

KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau) is the development bank of the Federal Government of Germany and is recognized as one of the leading financiers of international initiatives in sustainability, environmental protection, and climate change. Through German Financial Cooperation, KfW supports projects that promote ecosystem protection, the sustainable management of natural resources, and institutional strengthening in partner countries worldwide.

Within the framework of its cooperation with the Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization (ACTO), a new financial agreement aimed at strengthening the environmental and climate agenda of the Amazon region will be announced in the near future.
